National Health Confederation - CNS

Created in 1994, the National Health Confederation is a third degree trade union entity, the highest entity of trade union legislation. With its head office in Brasília, the country’s capital, it congregates 8 federations (Fehosul, Feherj, Fehospar, Fehoesc, Fehoesg, Febase e Fehoesp) and 90 healthcare unions active in the country. It represents all the healthcare services organizations in the country: hospitals, health clinics, clinical analysis and clinical pathology laboratories, services of diagnostics, imaging and physiotherapy and health insurance companies.

Since 2004 CNS is the Brazilian representative for the International Hospital Federation. Its president, Dr. José Carlos Abrahão, is a permanent member of IHF’s board and, for this reason, he has been taking part in IHF meetings and decisions. He is also the elected president for the 2009/2011 mandate.
