IHF, CNS and HOSPITALAR launch the 36th World Hospital Congress worldwide

HOSPITALAR’s booth in MEDICA staged the international launch of the 36th World Hospital Congress – IHF Rio 2009. The event gathered Brazilian and foreign entrepreneurs, the Press and healthcare sector leaders, to present details about the congress and to distribute the “1st Announcement”, containing the Scientific Program and Registration opening.

The 36th World Hospital Congress – IHF Rio 2009 is an official event of the International Hospital Federation (IHF), the most important organization to represent hospitals and health services institutions in the world. It is being jointly organized by IHF, CNS and HOSPITALAR Fair + Forum. The event will be held from November 10 to 12, 2009, in Rio de Janeiro, where 2,000 hospitals and health services institutions administrators, medical doctors, sector leaders and professionals representing more than 100 countries are expected to be convened.

The world congress, which occurs every two years, always in a different country, aims to stimulate cooperation between its members, experiences exchange and healthcare management improvement in every level. This will be the first time that the event takes place in Latin America, and Brazil was chosen due to its being a major representative of the continent.

The President of IHF Rio 2009, José Carlos Abrahão, MD (President of the Brazilian Health Confederation – CNS and President designate of IHF – 2009-2011 period), highlights that Rio de Janeiro will be transformed into a major forum for discussion about the directions of healthcare worldwide. “It will be a unique chance to exchange experiences and opinions in an intense and productive networking. It will also be Brazil’s opportunity to show the world its health system, which represents nowadays 8% of the national GDP.”

The Vice-President of IHF Rio 2009, Waleska Santos, MD (President of HOSPITALAR Fair + Forum), states that having this event in Brazil is an evidence of how mature is the idea that the world has about the country and of how seriously do the Government, entities and sector leaders take health. “We are preparing to promote a strong and very representative Congress, which will debate over health in Brazil, Latin America and the whole world.”

Exhibition
Simultaneously to the 36th World Hospital Congress, there will be the Medical Devices Expo Rio 2009, an exhibition of products, equipment and medical-hospital services. The show will gather healthcare leading brands, especially those which present high quality standards, certification and competitive prices to supply hospitals in the five continents. Medical Devices Expo will be organized by HOSPITALAR Fair + Forum.
